This 3-hectare nature reserve occupies a triangular plot of land bordered by railway lines near Chiswick Park Station in West London. The site features wet woodland habitat with birch and willow trees, constructed ponds, acid grassland areas, and a network of footpaths and decked walkways that guide visitors through the diverse ecosystems. Originally abandoned railway allotments that developed into woodland, the area was preserved through community advocacy in the 1980s and has been managed as a protected nature reserve since 1985. The reserve operates under a policy that permits assistance dogs only, making it unsuitable for recreational dog walking or exercise. This restriction helps protect the wildlife populations that inhabit the site, including various bird species, amphibians, small mammals, and insects that depend on the undisturbed woodland and pond environments. Access is convenient via public transportation, with the entrance located directly across from Chiswick Park Station on the District line. While the site remains open at all times, the terrain includes uneven surfaces and steep steps that may limit accessibility for some visitors. The facility offers educational programs for schools and maintains volunteer opportunities for those interested in conservation work.
