Community Guidelines
Furvisor is only as trustworthy as its reviews. These guidelines explain what makes a good review, what isn’t allowed, and how we keep the reviews you read honest and useful.
Writing a helpful review
The best reviews help another pet owner decide with confidence. When you write one:
- Base it on your own first-hand experience with the place or service.
- Be specific and fair — what happened, what stood out, and what other pet owners should know.
- Focus on the pet-service experience: care, cleanliness, staff, value, and results.
- Add photos and the pets you brought along — it makes your review more useful and credible.
- Keep it civil, even when the experience was a poor one.
What isn’t allowed
To keep reviews genuine, we don’t allow:
- Fake or paid-for reviews. Reviews must describe a real experience — never invented, bought, or written in exchange for a reward.
- Conflicts of interest. Don’t review your own business, a place you work for, or a competitor.
- Offensive or harassing content. No hate speech, threats, or attacks on individuals.
- Personal or private information. Don’t post anyone’s private details — yours or a staff member’s.
- Off-topic or wrong-place reviews. Keep each review to the place it’s actually about.
- Spam and promotions. No advertising, links, or repetitive content.
These standards also form part of our Terms of Service. Content that breaks them may be edited or removed, and repeat violations can lead to account suspension.
How we keep reviews trustworthy
- Real accounts. You need a free Furvisor account to write a review, so every review is tied to a registered pet owner — not an anonymous drive-by.
- Community + moderation. Reviews are published as soon as they’re written — we don’t pre-screen them — and we keep them honest afterwards: any signed-in pet owner can report a review, and our moderators remove content that breaks these guidelines.
- Your own pets and photos. When you attach a pet to a review, we check it belongs to your account — a small signal that a real owner stands behind it.
- Owners can respond, not rewrite. A business can reply to a review to add its side, but it can’t edit or delete what a customer wrote.
Ratings and rankings are never for sale
A place’s star rating is simply the average of its published reviews, and our “Top 10 best” rankings are calculated only from genuine review quality and volume — no business can pay for a better ranking. A Furvisor subscription can change where a business appears in the default browse view, but it has no effect on a listing’s star rating or on the rankings.
Reporting a review
See a review that breaks these guidelines? Open the review and choose Report, then pick a reason — spam or fake content, offensive content, a conflict of interest, the wrong place, or personal information. Reports go straight to our moderation team, and we act on the ones that break the rules. Thank you for helping keep Furvisor trustworthy for every pet owner.
